You have probably had an ultrasound scan before as it is a very common investigation. We will do a vaginal ultrasound scan using a small probe; your bladder does not have to be full for this type of scan (cf. abdominal ultrasound). The procedure is quick, painless and gives us a very useful image of your uterus (womb) and ovaries. We sometimes find fibroids, polyps, thickened endometrium (lining of the uterus), or ovarian cysts on scan.
